Me Listing My Tech
2023-08-13I have always liked to use a good amount of time for choosing the tech I purchase and use. Today I decided to write about what and why I have currently for my setup.
Personal Computer
Before I always had the latest, or almost the latest Macbook Pro and usually same laptop was used for working and personal stuff. However, now I have had for over a year desktop computer designed by Apple and upgraded by my brother.
Apple iMac 21" 2011
- Processor: Intel Xeon Quad-Core
- Memory: 20GB of DDR3 RAM
- Graphics: Quadro ???
- Hard drive: Samsung 500GB SSD
- OS: MacOS Monterey (installed with OpenCore Legacy Patcher)
- screen: sadly 1920x1080
- keyboard: Ducky ???
- mouse: Logitech G402
- microphone: Blue Yeti Microphone (Blackout) with Boom Arm Stand, Pop Filter and Shock Mount
Why Desktop and That Old
Desktop because for a long time I was allergic to even be on computer. Desktop has been enough for the limited use, and also kinda fun that I cannot drag my computer everywhere I go. I have been also fixing and selling old Macs and everytime I catch myself thinking "should I keep this one myself and retire the old iMac", I have the same internal discussion: That old iMac is enough for my needs, and the ones I fix, I can actually turn into cash.
So here I am, still using 2011 iMac, 12 years later it was released. You are enough my old friend, you are enough.
Work Setup
For over a decade of my career I managed to work only with Macs, but in my current job I had to agree on using Windows laptop. It's a decent one, but sadly it has Windows.
Dell ???
- Processor: Intel i7 ??? 12-core?
- Memory: 32GB of DDR4
- Hard drive: Hynix 1TB nvme SSD
After using Windows daily for last 9 months I could say that it has been lesser bad than what I thought, but still, it is a struggle, just like it was over a decade ago.
